I love to infuse symbolism into my paintings through flowers, crystals, animals and other things found in nature. My painting entitled Awake includes a number of these symbols, helping to tell the story of my awakening, unmasking, and refusal to continue blending in.
The Fox
The fox is one of my personal favorite spirit animals, often showing up to teach me lessons. This time, the fox showed up to show me that I’ve spend too much time camouflaging within the corporate environment, afraid to be seen as the creative, sensitive, and spiritual human that I am.
The fox generally symbolizes adaptability, strategy, and intelligence. These are all great skills to have, but too much of any of these can lead to disconnection from the creative force of the feminine energy while causing overthinking, frustration, and burnout.
In my painting, I depict my creative and spiritual self taking the lead while letting the fox energy rest. There is a time and place for strategic camouflaging, but right now my soul is asking to be seen.
The Lotus
The lotus flower is a very popular symbol for strength, rebirth, and awakening. It thrives in murky water and grows an incredibly strong root system and stem capable of withstanding harsh conditions. The flower itself closes it’s petals at night, opening again each morning with the sun. Every day is a new beginning.
Like the lotus flower, I have spend much time building a solid foundation, pushed through the murky waters of the awakening process, and opened myself up to the divine light. Now, I can clearly hear my souls calling and confidently allow myself to be seen as I am.
The Peach Moonstone
Moonstones are one of my absolute favorite gemstones. This particular one came to me as I was browsing through a bead and gemstone store near my house. I had initially wanted to add an amethyst crystal to this piece as it’s most often associated with the third eye, but this peach moonstone really called to me. While it’s not the typical third eye gem, it fits the energy exceptionally well.
The peach moonstone represents emotional healing, self compassion, and feminine energy. Although it is most often associated with the sacral energy center, it also helps to activate the heart and crown centers, aiding in bringing energetic alignment throughout the entire body. For me, it represents my connection to my higher self, my heart, and my creativity.
The Lupine
Like all of the symbols in this painting, the use of the lupine flower in my painting came to me intuitively. But, I didn’t know what it’s meaning was, so I decided to look up it’s symbolism after adding it to my painting. Of course, it totally aligns. The lupine is thought to symbolize creativity, resilience, renewal, and joyful enthusiasm for life. It’s often one of the first flowers to grow ofter a forest fire because the heat actually helps to crack open the seeds hard shell and the sun shines on the seedlings unobstructed due to the loss of the dense vegetation. The purple lupine specifically relates to imagination and spirituality.
Like so many others, life has put me through some… let’s just say hard stuff. Through all of the devastation, I grew stronger, more resilient, and more grateful to be here. As I stepped more fully into myself and reclaimed my creativity, spirituality, and soul purpose, I have gained an even bigger thirst for life.
